Holly and Shreyas’ Hindu Wedding Day
There ain’t no party like a Punjabi party
Extravagant ceremony at the Adelaide Zoo, a boat ride on The Popeye, a troupe of dholi drummers to welcome guests on the bank of the River Torrens, followed by a lavish reception at Eos Skycity Ballroom. A bit extra? Yes. Also a bit INCREDIBLE.
(And this was only ONE of three days of wedding celebrations that I captured.)
Honouring Traditions and Celebrating Love Through Photography

Holly and Shreyas’s Hindu wedding day was dreamed up around a love of family and a deep honour and respect of culture and tradition. Lucky guests were treated to nothing short of a three day FESTIVAL of celebrations with no detail left unthought of. Their celebrations began two days prior with a Sangeet and Mehndi night - a night of feasting, dancing and henna. Their Hindu wedding day was then followed by a western wedding day chaser on the following day - but that’s a story for another time.
A true treat for the eyes. This beautiful wedding celebration was absolutely BURSTING with colour and joy and exquisite details from go to woah. It was a definite highlight ‘pinch me’ sort of wedding to photograph, and I am SO grateful to Holly and Shreyas for choosing me to capture it for them.
Their Hindu ceremony commenced at the lusciously green Adelaide Zoo, featuring one of the most exquisitely styled Mandaps that anyone this far south of India has ever laid eyes on. The Hindu ceremony by the sparkly-eyed priest was delivered with a spicy sprinkling of joy and humour. Everyone couldn’t help but have a huge fat smile smeared across their faces the entire time.
Guests were then ushered to the River Torrens, where they boarded the Popeye for refreshments and a ride downstream to the dock landing at Elder Park. Once disembarked, a troupe of dhol drummers paraded the literal boatloads of guests in exuberant and energetic dance right up to the doors of Eos Skycity - where a lavish reception awaited in the Ballroom.
Have you got a pair of sunnies nearby? I strongly suggest you stick them on your face if you intend on perusing these photographs. This one is a punch in the face with colour and texture (and possibly a slight assault on the retinas), featuring some of the best dressed wedding guests I’ve had the pleasure of laying my lens on in maybe ever.
Enjoy.
