Louise and Geoff’s Wedding at Al Ru Farm

A perfect day. Sunshine. Champagne. A stroll in the gardens. Life is good.

Louise + Geoffrey’s wedding theme was inspired by some of their favourite holiday destinations: the South of France, Italy, Portugal, and Greece. They treated their guests to the most beautifully thoughtful and luxurious celebration at Al Ru Farm.

Capturing Love at One of Adelaide’s Most Beautiful Wedding Venues

Who needs to go all the way to Italy to have a wedding this extravagantly beautiful? Not Louise + Geoffrey.

Louise + Geoffrey’s wedding theme was inspired by some of their favourite holiday destinations: the South of France, Italy, Portugal, and Greece. They treated their guests to the most beautifully thoughtful and luxurious celebration at Al Ru Farm, with Louise’s brief being, “vintage retro glam: think lambeth cakes with cherries and flowers in reds, blues and greens, italian lace.” I absolutely LOVED photographing this one.

If you’re considering a garden wedding in Adelaide (and you don’t have face-meltingly awful hayfever) Spring is the season for it. Al Ru Farm has to be one of the most stunning wedding venues I’ve had the pleasure of photographing at - with accommodations, 10 acres of both rambling cottage style gardens and formal plantings, with multiple and varied settings in which to host your guests during the different elements that make up a wedding day. It’s a private Mediterranean/Tuscan style oasis and only about 45 minutes out of Adelaide.

Being a photographer means I get a front row seat to almost all the intimate and BTS parts of a wedding day - not just with the couple, but the venue staff too. Let me tell you - not all are created equal. I’ve shot at Al Ru Farm many times before, and know the venue quite well.

Here are some of my favourite things about Weddings at Al Ru Farm:

  • All inclusive and in ONE location: no travelling between venues on the day, making it easy for everyone

  • 10 acres of beautifully curated gardens AND indoor/outdoor spaces (providing back-up options for wet weather and a plethora of portrait locations)

  • Accommodations suitable for the couple AND their wedding party/VIPs (because if I were a bride, I’d just love the idea of being able to pull a ghostie at the end of a long and satisfyingly memorable wedding day - and fall into bed without having to bother with transport)

  • Ruth the owner, and every single venue employee (venue managers/Kitchen/service/waitstaff) care very much about their guests’ experience. AND they’re so kind to ‘vendors’ like me - which isn’t always the case behind the scenes at wedding venues. They are passionate about what they do and you can tell.

  • FYI Just watch out for the resident confusion of guineafowls (TIL that ‘confusion’ is the actual collective noun for gineafowls and GAWD that’s accurate) - one of them is a little bit of a tempestuous brat.

SO! Strap yourself down! Hold onto your hat! This incredible Spring time soiree will knock your socks off. I hope you enjoy.
